The Top 5 Coffee Shops Near the Triangle and Wayne County
Due to the ongoing global pandemic, small businesses need your support more than ever before. When you choose a neighborhood cafe over a larger chain, you’re helping Triangle entrepreneurs and strengthening our area’s economy, all while getting your daily dose of caffeine.
Here are some of our picks for the area’s top coffee shops. We hope you love them as much as we do!
Morning Times – Raleigh

Located in the heart of Downtown Raleigh, this multi-level cafe features brews that are just as eclectic as its decor. After grabbing a cup of Counter Culture coffee or a house-made scone, you can head upstairs to the gallery to check out pieces from local artists.
Morning Times is currently open for pick-up and delivery only, but they hope to open back up for dine-in very soon!
Gypsy Bean Coffee Shop – Goldsboro

You’ll find the Gypsy Bean Coffee Shop at the corner of Center and Walnut Streets right in the middle of Downtown Goldsboro. From the moment you step inside, you’ll be greeted by the wafting aroma of their exclusive house coffee blend—and you can even take some beans home with you! Gypsy Bean also features some yummy sweets from some of Goldsboro’s local bakers.
As of early August, Gypsy Bean is open for dine-in and takeout. If you stop by on #MissionMonday, half of their daily profits go to support a local charity!
Sir Walter Coffee – Raleigh

As one of Raleigh’s most popular cafes, Sir Walter Coffee showcases some delicious brews and bites right in the middle of Downtown. While they may not be open for dine-in quite yet, you can still pop in and sample their barista-crafted beverages. They even serve up coffee and tea-inspired cocktails, too!
Sir Walter Coffee currently offers online ordering and takeout from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
Ugly Mug Bean & Brew – Garner

Tucked right off of 40/42 in Garner, the Ugly Mug is a unique spot that’s ideal for relaxing, savoring a sweet treat, or indulging in a caffeinated creation. In addition to their regular beverages, they also serve up some unconventional combos, such as the Bitter Brit (chocolate, English toffee, and coffee) and the Voltaire (coffee and frozen hot chocolate).
You can head to Ugly Mug from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Sundays. They are currently open for dine-in, takeout, and delivery.
